History & milestones

VERIFIED

Sushi Spot sits on Ventura Boulevard's 'Sushi Row' — described by The Infatuation as an 18-mile stretch from Studio City to Calabasas with the highest concentration of sushi restaurants in America — and is regarded as an old-school, value-driven holdover (warm-rice, no-frills nigiri) amid that corridor.

Ownership & legal record

BUSTED

A USPTO 'SUSHI SPOT' word mark exists (Reg. No. 4248892, Serial 85464422, filed 2011-11-04, registered 2012-11-27, Class 043, owned by 'Sushi Spot II LLC'), but it is NOT tied to the Tarzana restaurant: it belongs to an unrelated operator, and multiple distinct 'Sushi Spot' businesses exist (Arcata CA, Brooklyn NY, Plano TX). The Tarzana restaurant claims a 1989 opening, predating the 2011 trademark filing.
